NBIS Statement of Intent for Nursery

North Baddesley Infant School is applying to extend the age range of its pupils from 4-7 years to ages 2-7 years.

It is the intention of the school to open a Nursery class from January 2022.

The rationale for extending the age range at NBIS is to meet the growing number of 2, 3- and 4-year olds that are identified by the early years strategic planning officer within the ward of North Baddesley. This number will increase by an average of 50 pupils by 2023. It is worth noting that the local approved housing expansion has not yet begun and will inevitably add further demand. It is important that we are equipped to support all families that require this service in our community.

North Baddesley Infant School want all children in the local community to receive the best possible provision. Their commitment to work in partnership with local preschool settings and nurseries will continue, offering all training, including safeguarding, being hosted at NBIS to these providers. The school recognise that wraparound provision for young children is limited in the area and therefore the offer is vital to support all families, particularly those that have working parents and carers and require extended provision 8am - 6pm.

North Baddesley Infant School wishes to engage with the community to seek views on the Nursery school offer.

What does this mean for the community, the curriculum and the school culture?
