Democracy
Children at NBIS show democracy by volunteering their view, exercising their vote, accepting majority decisions gracefully, and ensuring a winning outcome is implemented. Other learning opportunities include:
- voting on whole class rewards
- voting on books to be read in story time
- running for school council
- electing school council
Pupil Voice
In addition, we support pupils’ rights as part of our commitment to the United Nations convention on the Rights of the Child. We nurture responsibility, democracy and participation for each child. Pupil voice is a high priority within our school and respected at all times.
Children are given the opportunity to become buddies, supporting and befriending others on the playground. We also have class school councillors who welcome and share information with visitors to our school. Our Green Team has representatives from each class who work hard to improve our school’s carbon footprint and sustainability.
